Digswell Arts Trust – A Sense of Self Exhibition Image « Digswell Arts

A Sense of Self uses visual arts practice to celebrate the ways in which we understand ourselves through metaphor, mark making, colour and form. It is a conversation on creativity, individuality and our experience of living. It presents the idea that every human being can access and express profound, beautiful and humbling works that reveal a commonality of human experience, desire and emotion.

Digswell Arts Trust artists Jo Howe (lead artist) and Alex Mclntyre (agent and artist) joined forces in this exciting project with the Hertfordshire Creative Learning Programme and Lonsdale School, Stevenage.

The show ran for 12 days from 22 May 2012 with a private view attracting a large audience.  Pupils delighted in sharing their work and the work of other artists.  Visitors remarked on the strength of the show, the quality of the work and the atmosphere in the gallery.  One pupil sold a work as did one professional artist.  Letchworth Arts Trust remarked on how well the show had been received and the school has booked the gallery for next year to ensure that this is not a one off event.  Fourteen Digswell Arts Trust fellows from all three sites contributed to the exhibition with many also attending the private view.  Articles about the exhibition and the  project were published in the Stevenage Comet and Herts Advertiser.
